Ajax midfielder Davy Klaassen can count himself a little lucky after he was sent off against Stuttgart – and allowed to play on.
The somewhat bizarre incident occurred when Ajax met the Bundesliga side in a friendly during the run-up to the resumption of play for both clubs after the winter break.
Looks like Francesco Farioli & Sebastian Hoeneß (Stuttgart coach) had a little chat after the incident and agreed that it would be better to finish this friendly 11v11, the referee agreed and so Davy Klaassen remains on the pitch despite being shown a red card. pic.twitter.com/rIZsU5B2ml

Klaassen committed a nasty foul close to the hour mark and a subsequent red card, but after coaches Francesco Farioli and Sebastian Hoeneß discussed the incident, they agreed to resume the game with 11 against 11.
Their justification was that both wanted match practice with complete numbers on both sides and that playing with a man down would not be helpful to either side.
Not something you see every day, is it?
