🚨 Former Sheffield United player George Baldock passes away at age 31

Former Sheffield United full-back George Baldock has passed away at the age of 31, the club announced Wednesday evening.

The Englishman had been plying his trade in Greek football with Panathinaikos after making 219 appearances for the Blades between 2017-2024.

In an official statement, the club memorialised the ‘popular’ player he was at Bramall Lane.

“Sheffield United Football Club is shocked and extremely saddened to learn of the passing of former player, George Baldock,” they said.

“The defender left the club in the summer after seven years at Bramall Lane and was extremely popular with supporters, staff and team-mates who pulled on a red and white shirt alongside him.

“The sincere condolences of everyone associated with Sheffield United are extended to George’s family and friends.”

The defender played across all four divisions in English football, but was most known for his key role in the Blades’ promotion to the Premier League in 2019 following a 12-year absence.
