Three male teens were stabbed following an assault that involved 10 teenagers Friday night in Palm Desert, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office.
At 9:43 p.m. Friday, Riverside County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to the area of Portola Avenue and Hovley Lane regarding an assault with a deadly weapon. When deputies arrived, they found three young males with stab wounds. Two were taken to a local hospital with critical injuries, and the third had minor injuries.
The Sheriff’s Office did not reveal the ages of the stabbing victims.
Upon further investigation, sheriff’s deputies learned that the injured males were part of a group of eight teenagers who assaulted two other teens in the 73000 block of Magnesia Falls Drive. One of the assault victims stabbed the three young males, and the two then fled the area.
The Sheriff’s Office said the group of eight got into a vehicle and drove to the 74000 block of Hovey Lane, where the driver dropped off the seven passengers and left. Deputies detained the other four, who were uninjured.
No additional information was shared about the two teens who fled the scene on Magnesia Falls Drive.
Riverside County Sheriff’s crews were seen investigating around the Palm Desert Aquatic Center and Hovley Soccer Park areas Friday night.
This investigation is ongoing.
