Tyrone Taylor has had a painful start to the offseason.
The Mets announced that the outfielder underwent a umbilical hernia repair on Oct. 30 and a right elbow loose body removal on Thursday in New York.
It’s unclear exactly when Taylor suffered the injuries.
The average return to play timeline for both of the procedures is approximately two months, according to the team, so the 30-year-old will have his offseason routine interrupted a bit, but he is expected to be ready to roll by the time spring training comes around.
Taylor appeared in a career-high 130 games last season after being acquired in a winter deal with the Milwaukee Brewers.
While his counting stats don’t exactly jump off the page, he served as an extremely valuable piece for Carlos Mendoza, providing stellar defense at all three outfield positions while also picking up clutch hits time and time again.
Things will certainly change as external additions are made over the next few months, but Taylor is currently slotted in as the starting center fielder for the Mets next season.
