Liverpool, PSG Receive Transfer Boost as Napoli Uncertain About Star’s Future

This past summer, Paris Saint-Germain showed a keen interest in Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, but a transfer never materialized. However, both the player and Napoli are facing difficulties agreeing on a contract extension, with other European clubs keeping an eye on the situation.

Journalist Gianluca Di Marzio reports that Kvaratskhelia is seeking an €80 million release clause in his new deal, though Napoli are reportedly hesitant to accept. The club has set the Georgian international’s price at around €100 million for any potential transfer.

Recently, journalist Graeme Bailey mentioned to Rousing the Kop that Kvaratskhelia is on Liverpool’s radar as they begin to plan for life after Mohamed Salah.

“When you’ve got the likes of possibly Kvaratskhelia on the market, let’s not forget that Liverpool have just brought in the second best Georgian player,” Bailey said. “Liverpool are all over Kvaratskhelia, they know about the situation, there might be a chance of getting him next summer.”

Napoli are said to have made several offers to the player, with the latest one offering a salary of €5 million excluding bonuses. However, the player and his agent are still asking for at least €8 million, which is still less than what Paris Saint-Germain reportedly offered him this summer.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport (h/t Le10Sport), Napoli are growing increasingly concerned about the future of the Georgian player, especially as PSG appear ready to make another move.

Kvaratskhelia made 45 appearances in the 2023-24 season, scoring 11 goals and providing nine assists and playing a key role in Napoli’s Serie A title win.
