NEW DELHI: In a show of tremendous bravery and grit, Western Australia’s Ashton Agar was seen batting one-handed against Victoria in Australia’s domestic Sheffield Shield game on Monday.
Agar, who had injured his left shoulder, walked out to bat at No.11 for Western Australia and bravely stood against the seam and spin attack of Victoria.
Battling pain, Agar showcased incredible resilience and fight and added a crucial 15 runs for the final wicket with centurion Joel Curtis.
Agar was eventually dismissed for a five-ball duck but his partnership with Curtis took Western Australia to 325 in the second innings before being bundled out.
Curtis, on the other hand, remained unbeaten on 119.
However, Agar’s courageous effort went in vain as in the fourth innings Victoria overhauled the 120-run target for the loss of just two wickets.
In the chase, Marcus Harris and Peter Handscomb struck unbeaten half-centuries to take their side home inside 24 overs.
