Tennessee basketball stayed put at No. 11 in this week’s AP Poll after a 2-0 week that saw them earn blowout victories over both Montana and Austin Peay.

The Vols are now the fourth highest ranked SEC team in this week’s poll coming in behind No. 4 Auburn, No. 8 Alabama and No. 9 Kentucky. The Wildcats jumped Tennessee in this week’s rankings, flying up 10 spots following their win over Duke.

Like Tennessee, Auburn and Kentucky both remain unbeaten on the season while Alabama lost its first big test of the season at Purdue on Friday night.

There are seven total SEC teams in this week’s rankings with Tennessee coming in ahead of No. 20 Arkansas, No. 21 Florida and No. 23 Texas A&M.

Tennessee is 4-0 early in the 2024-25 season after earning wins over Montana and Austin Peay last week. The Vols won the two games by 35 points, covering the point spread in both games. Charlotte transfer Igor Milicic Jr had a breakout week, averaging 20.5 points, 9.5 rebounds and 4.5 assists in the two wins.

Point guard Zakai Zeigler also had a strong week, averaging 15 points, 7.5 assists, 4,5 rebounds and only 1.5 turnovers in the two games.

After a week with two games against smaller schools, Tennessee heads to the Bahamas this week for the Baha Mar Tournament. The Vols face Virginia in their first game on Thursday night before facing either No. 13 Baylor or No. 22 St. John’s in their second game of the weekend on Friday night.

The matchup against Baylor or St. John’s will be one of the most difficult on Tennessee’s non conference schedule as well as a road matchup at No. 25 Illinois next month.
