Judge Keith Mason handed down a $1 million secured bond on Tuesday, Jan. 16 to Cameron Lee Smith with an order that he could not be in possession of weapons, firearms or explosives should he bond out.

Two homemade grenades were uncovered by an investigator with Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office on January 10. The investigator performed a wellness check on Smith who was found slumped over in his car in the Food Lion parking lot on John Small Avenue. The investigator observed drug paraphernalia in Smith’s vehicle as well.

The following day, Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office and North Carolina State Bureau of Investigations recovered 50 pieces of evidence from Smith’s home on Harvey Road.

Smith’s next appearance in court is scheduled for February 15 at the Beaufort County Courthouse in Washington.
