Diontae Johnson will be moving on to his third team this season after being claimed on waivers by the Houston Texans.
The Ravens visit the Texans on Wednesday in a Week 17 matchup.
Johnson will join the Texans days after they lost wide receiver Tank Dell for the season after he was injured during a collision with teammate Jared Wayne following a 30-yard touchdown catch against the Kansas City Chiefs.
Dell suffered a torn ACL and dislocated kneecap and will require surgery.
Johnson came to Baltimore in October as part of a trade with the Carolina Panthers. He played in four games with the Ravens and then refused to enter their Week 12 game against the Philadelphia Eagles. He was suspended by the team for one game, with general manager Eric DeCosta citing “conduct detrimental to the team” in a statement. It is unclear why Johnson refused to play.
Johnson, who is an unrestricted free agent this offseason, was then excused from team activities following the suspension and was then waived on Dec. 20.
Down Dell and Stefon Diggs, who is out with a torn ACL, the Texans receivers’ room now features Johnson, Wayne, Nico Collins, John Metchie III, Robert Woods, and Xavier Hutchinson.
The 9-6 Texans have already clinched the AFC South title and sit as the No. 4 seed in the AFC. They finish up the regular season on Christmas Day against Baltimore and then against the Tennessee Titans in Week 18.
