On Feb. 3, 2021, Washington received a commitment from former Texas Tech receiver Ja’Lynn Polk. The Texan became a key piece of the Huskies’ successful 2022 and 2023 seasons, leaving with 1,967 yards, 16 touchdowns and an appearance in the College Football Playoff championship game.
Now, the Huskies will add another player with Red Raider connections.
Washington and coach Jedd Fisch picked up their 19th commitment of the 2025 recruiting cycle on Tuesday, receiving a pledge from three-star cornerback Ramonz Adams out of Bastrop High School in Bastrop, Texas. UW’s incoming class is currently ranked No. 19 in the country.
The 6-foot-1, 160-pound Adams chose Washington instead of scholarship offers from Arizona, Boston College, Houston and Texas Tech among others. He’d been committed to the Red Raiders since Nov. 19, 2023, but announced he was reopening his recruitment on June 17 shortly before visiting UW on June 21.
Adams is the No. 70 cornerback in the country and the No. 131 player in Texas according to 247Sports composite rankings. He’s a three-sport athlete, also playing basketball and participating in track and field where he specializes in high jump, long jump and triple jump.
He’s the second cornerback to commit to Washington. Three-star prospect and Spanaway native D’Aryhian Clemons pledged to join UW on June 24. Adams is currently the only player from Texas in Washington’s recruiting class.
Adams spent the first three years of his high school football career at nearby Smithville High School, a Class 4A school near Bastrop where he played quarterback and wide receiver along with cornerback.
He had 37 tackles including two tackles for a loss as a sophomore, along with an interception and a fumble recovery in 11 games. Adams added 25 tackles in 10 games as a junior, and also grabbed eight interceptions.
Washington’s cornerbacks group is young, but fairly untested entering 2024 outside juniors Ephesians Prysock, Elijah Jackson and senior Thaddeus Dixon, the only cornerback expected to exhaust his eligibility during the 2024 campaign.
Cornerbacks coach John Richardson has no sophomores on his roster because UW only took one player, Texas native Jaivion Green, in Kalen DeBoer’s hastily assembled 2022 recruiting class. Green entered the transfer portal on Jan. 12, the same day DeBoer departed for Alabama and is currently at Stanford.
However, Washington has four redshirt freshmen cornerbacks: Curley Reed III, Leroy Bryant, Rainier Beach standout Caleb Presley and Jordan Shaw, a former Indiana defensive back who transferred to Arizona and then followed Fisch and Richardson to Montlake. They’re joined by true freshmen Elias Johnson and Rahshawn Clark, a former two-way Garfield High School star.
Along with Clemons and Adams, UW is currently predicted to land three-star cornerback LaRue Zamorano out of Centennial High School in Corona, Calif. by 247Sports recruiting experts. The 6-foot-2, 175-pound defensive back named Washington in his final seven schools along with Oregon, Penn State, Kansas, Michigan State, USC and Arizona on May 14 and visited UW on June 21 with Adams and Clemons.

- Washington missed out on three-star offensive tackle Elijah Vaikona from Santa Margarita Catholic High School in Southern California on Tuesday. The 6-foot-8, 368-pound lineman chose USC instead of Washington or UCLA.
- The Huskies also failed to land four-star edge rusher Chinedu Onyeagoro from King Drew Medical Magnet High School in Los Angeles as he committed to SMU on Monday. However, Onyeagoro had announced he wasn’t officially visiting UW on June 21 after initially planning to attend, making a commitment to Washington unlikely despite including it in his final four schools with Florida and UCLA.
