Lukaku ‘literally changed Napoli’s game’ in 2-1 win over Parma

Date:

Romelu Lukaku was the MOTM in Napoli‘s 2-1 win over Parma, as his introduction from the bench in the second half ‘literally changed the game.’

Lukaku started off on the right foot at Napoli, scoring on his debut and inspiring a 2-1 comeback win over Parma.

The Belgian forward was introduced at minute 62 in the second half and scored the equaliser in the stoppages, sparking Napoli’s comeback.

Lukaku was named MOTM by Lega Serie A, and the same was true for Italian sports papers.

Gazzetta and Tuttosport rated Lukaku 7/10, while Corriere dello Sport gave him 7.5/10.

“The dream debut at Maradona’s temple,” wrote Gazzetta.

“His presence broke down Parma’s wall. His task was to make a difference, and he immediately made his voice heard.”

“Conte’s man literally changed the game. He scored his first goal in his way,” added Tuttosport on page 15.

Il Corriere dello Sport wrote: “He just arrived, with just a few training sessions in their legs, and he introduced himself to the Stadio Maradona with a goal. He couldn’t have started his Napoli adventure in a better way.”

Lukaku dedicated his first MOTM award to Napoli fans with a video message on Instagram, shared by Napoli’s official account.

“Hello, all Napoli fans. This is for you. We won. We continue on our path,” said the Belgian striker, who had netted 64 times in 95 games under Conte at Inter, winning the Serie A title in 2020-21.

Lukaku joined Napoli from Chelsea for €30m this summer, signing a contract until June 2027.
