Dwayne Bravo, one of T20 cricket’s most iconic figures, has announced that the ongoing Caribbean Premier League (CPL) will be his final bow, marking the end of an illustrious career that has left an indelible mark on the sport.
The 40-year-old cricket legend made the emotional announcement via his Instagram account on Saturday, just hours before his team, the Trinbago Knight Riders, faced off against the St Kitts and Nevis Patriots in Basseterre.
“It’s been a great journey, and I’m looking forward to playing my final professional tournament in front of my Caribbean people,” Bravo shared in his heartfelt post. Reflecting on his career coming full circle, he added, “TKR is the place where everything started for me and will end with my team.”

Bravo’s retirement from the CPL effectively signals the close of a remarkable professional career. The Trinidad and Tobago native had previously retired from international cricket in 2021 following the T20 World Cup and stepped away from the Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2022 after contributing to four championship victories with the Chennai Super Kings.

Renowned for his dynamic and versatile playing style, Bravo leaves the CPL as its all-time leading wicket-taker, having claimed 128 wickets in 103 matches at an average of 22.40 and an economy rate of 8.69. His prowess on the field extends beyond the CPL, as Bravo holds the record for the most wickets in all T20 cricket, with an astounding 630 dismissals in 578 matches. Additionally, he has amassed 6,970 runs with the bat, further solidifying his legacy.
Bravo’s storied career includes participation in seven T20 World Cups, where he was part of two title-winning West Indies teams. His achievements also span over 15 franchise league titles worldwide, making him a pioneer in the T20 format.
