Barcelona put on a statement performance this past weekend as they thrashed Real Valladolid 7-0 to register their fourth win in four games in La Liga.
It was a tremendous display from the entire team as the Catalans announced themselves as a force to be reckoned with, even though they have been bogged down by injury problems.
Even though he did not score a goal on the day, Lamine Yamal was one of the standout performances for Barcelona against Valladolid, causing all sorts of problems to the Valladolid defence and even registering an assist.
Yamal picked up discomfort vs Valladolid
Now, as per El Chiringuito TV, Lamine Yamal finished the game against Real Valladolid on Saturday with some discomfort.
As such, he has undergone medical check-ups earlier today – something that was already agreed upon between Barça and the Spanish national team. The good news is that there is no injury to the youngster.
Barcelona have had bad luck with injuries in recent months and are currently without as many as seven players.
Fermin Lopez became the latest player to get sidelined, having picked up a thigh injury while away with the Spain Under-21 national team.
As such, the situation surrounding Yamal would have been concerning for Barcelona, but the 17-year-old is not injured. The medical check-up was routine to follow up on the discomfort he felt after the Valladolid game.
However, it would be well-advised for Yamal to be given a breather by Spain national team manager Luis de la Fuente.
La Roja have two UEFA Nations League matches coming up against Serbia and Switzerland in the ongoing international break. It will be interesting to see whether Yamal is used in those matches by the manager.
