Real Madrid starlet receives support from national team manager amid lack of minutes

Real Madrid’s summer transfer window was quite bipolar in many senses.

The Merengues indeed roped in one of football’s biggest names in Kylian Mbappe and one of the most prodigious young talents in Endrick, significantly fortifying the attack. However, that was the end of the list of arrivals for the summer.

While Mbappe has started life in Spain favourably, the Brazilian starlet has not received nearly as much attention in terms of playing time. He has already scored for Los Blancos but has played only 27 minutes in four games.

Brazilian coach defends Endrick

The Real Madrid youngster is currently on international duty with the Brazilian national team and will face Ecuador and Paraguay in the coming days.

Speaking to the media ahead of Selecao’s first game of the break, Brazil NT manager Jr. was asked if he saw Endrick be ready to play given his lack of playing time in Spain.

“Endrick, without being a starter in one of the best teams in world football, has the credentials to start for the national team and play the 90 minutes,” he began, defending his young star.

He then stressed the fact that there were early stages in the season and that one must have patience, especially with the younger names in the team like Endrick and Estevao.

“They have a very high potential and a lot is expected of them but we must have patience. They leave their clubs and arrive at the national team with great responsibility because we need positive results because of our situation in the standings,” he added.

Indeed, Brazil are currently clinging on to a place in the World Cup qualifying berths with just two wins in six games and are sixth in the standings.

Defending champions Argentina lead the race with 15 points but Uruguay, Colombia, Venezuela and Ecuador are all ahead of the Selecao. The two upcoming games, thus, are virtually must-win.
