Deceased in CDOT crash identified, fundraiser for families

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KREX) — The Mesa County Coroner’s Office has released the names of the three people who died in Wednesday’s U.S. 6 crash.

The passenger in the Jeep was identified as 67-year-old Kathie Wallace, a resident of Mesa County. The Colorado Department of Transportation employees who died were 23-year-old Nathan Jones and 43-year-old Trenton Umberger, both Grand Junction residents.

GoFundMe campaigns have been established to support each family. In addition, community members are organizing a cruise to show support; they will be meeting at the old Gay Johnson’s on First Street and Grand Avenue at 8 p.m. Thursday.
