France were back to winning ways after the defeat to Italy to pick up their first points in the Nations League Group A2. Mike Maignan played a big part in the 2-0 win as Deschamps’ side beat Belgium at the Groupama Stadium, home of Olympique Lyonnais. Goals from Kolo Muani (29′) and Dembélé (57′) decided the game, a precious result secured with the help of the Rossoneri keeper, one of the best on the pitch with his four big saves against the Red Devils and a clean sheet.
Theo Hernández didn’t take part in the game with Les Bleus whilst Youssouf Fofana came on in stoppage time to reinforce the midfield under fire from the Belgian attack. The French thus jumped to second in the table, level with Belgium but behind Italy who are top with six points thanks to their 2-1 win over Israel. On Monday 5 September, Noah Raveyre also played a full 90 for the France U20s in their 2-1 friendly win over Switzerland.
