A busy international break – for some

Cardiff City’s midfield have put in some work over the international break, with Manolis Siopis joining Aaron Ramsey in playing twice for his country.

Having played 25 minutes as a substitute in Greece’s 3-0 win over Finland last Saturday, Siopis racked up another 88 minutes of game time as the Greeks won 2-0 against the Republic of Ireland on Tuesday.

Ramsey has had more recovery time ahead of Cardiff’s Championship trip to Derby County on Saturday, as Wales’ second game of the international break was in Montenegro on Monday.

The 33-year-old played only the final 10 minutes in Niksic, having lasted 72 minutes in the draw with Turkey last Friday.

Andy Rinomhota, who is yet to feature in the league this season but has made two EFL Cup appearances for Cardiff, played throughout two AFCON qualifiers for Zimbabwe – goalless draws with Kenya and Cameroon.

For the remainder of Cardiff’s international contingent, there was plenty of travelling but not much game time.

Callum Robinson played only six minutes of the Republic of Ireland’s defeat to Greece, while Callum O’Dowda sat on the bench throughout. Both players were unused substitutes in the loss to England last weekend.

USA goalkeeper Ethan Horvath went to Kansas, for a 2-1 loss to Canada, and then Ohio, where the Americans drew 1-1 with New Zealand, but did not make it off the bench in either friendly.

Rubin Colwill saw no action with Wales, while Jesper Daland did not feature for Norway after suffering an ankle injury.

Perry Ng has also been away, with Singapore, though that was only to take part in a training camp.
