kicker reports that Bayern Munich’s Paul Wanner, may not be immediately integrated into the team from next season and more patience may be needed.
Wanner is currently on loan at Heidenheim and has started the season off strongly with four goals and an assist in four games as Heidenhiem currently sits atop the Bundesliga. However, the Voith Arena may not be Wanner’s final stop on loan before he tries to break into the Bayern first team. Wanner also spent last season on loan at 2.Bundesliga side Elversberg.
For the 18 year old to be a part of Bayern’s squad next summer, he will have to be far enough in his development that he can be guaranteed playing time with the team. This could become an issue if Bayern step up their pursuit of Florian Wirtz or Xavi Simons next summer and Leroy Sané extends his contract at die Rekordmeister.
A positive for Wanner is that Bayern want to include more academy graduates in their first team squad with players such as Jamal Musiala and Aleksander Pavlovic making the step up in recent years. The club also wants to avoid a situation like with Angelo Stiller where they allowed a talented player to leave the club, and the midfielder has now established him at VfB Stuttgart.
On the chance that Bayern sell Wanner, it would cost a double digit million fee for a player of his calibre.
