Week 4 of the college football season features the start of conference play for many teams and it shouldn’t disappoint based off the slate of games.
Clemson got things started off with a thorough domination of conference rival NC State, going off for 45 points in the first half for an easy win that shows it’s right there in the mix with Miami at the top of the ACC.
The early games also featured some history making. James Madison scored more points in the first half against North Carolina than it ever had before in a wild 70-50 upset (UNC had also never allowed that many points in a half before Saturday either). Later, Temple kicker Maddux Trujillo drilled a 64-yard field goal — the longest kick in 16 years and just one yard shy of Martin Gramatica’s record.
Michigan will start Alex Orji at quarterback against the Trojans after Davis Warren started the first three games and was mostly ineffective. The Wolverines will likely employ a run-heavy attack that will test a USC defense that suddenly looks very feisty.
After missing Utah’s Week 3 win over Utah State, all signs point to Cameron Rising playing against the Cowboys. And that’s big news for this game that could go a long way in determining the top of the Big 12 standings. The Cowboys are favored at home after the line had Utah as a small favorite earlier in the week.
Former Oklahoma QB and assistant Josh Heupel returns to Norman as the Volunteers’ head coach on Saturday night. UT QB Nico Iamaleava has become an early Heisman favorite with his play so far, and that high-powered offense will put the pressure on Oklahoma QB Jackson Arnold to get things going in the passing game.

Just when it seemed like USC was getting some momentum, Michigan All-American CB Will Johnson returns Miller Moss’ interception 42 yards to the end zone!

The Cowboys decided it’d be better to run out the clock rather than try to advance it and make another mistake, so the Utes will take the lead into the break and get the ball first in the second half.

The Cowboys get the ball right back after a forced throw by Isaac Wilson. Both teams may be better suited taking a knee and rethinking their strategy at halftime.

The Cowboys were desperately trying to move the ball down the field to cut into the lead before halftime and Alan Bowman forced a throw that was picked off by Alaka’i Gilman.
OSU recovers fumble!
Micah Bernard made a catch on a swing pass but lost control of the ball and the Cowboys come up with the ball.

Okie State misses FG
The Cowboys had a solid drive going before Utah’s D firmed up, forcing a 46-yard FG attempt by Logan Ward that sailed wide right.
Utes still lead 10-3.
Halftime: Michigan 14, USC 3
Oh boy, one of USC’s most promising drives of the game ends with Miller Moss being sacked. And the clock runs out on the first half just like that.
The Trojans were on the cusp of field goal range, but no dice.
Touchdown Utah!
The Utes went for it on fourth-and-4 in Oklahoma State territory and QB Isaac Wilson made a gutsy run to get the first down. Three plays later, Brant Kuithe takes a wildcat snap out of the backfield and runs it in for a touchdown.
Utes tie it up
Utah put together a 12-play, 63-yard drive before a sack forced them to attempt a field goal. Kicker Cole Becker delivers with a 43-yarder to knot it at 3-3.
USC settles for FG
The Trojans had cobbled together a solid drive before it fizzled out in the red zone. Still, they are on the board in the Big House with just over 4 minutes left in the half.

The Wolverines’ running game is dominating. Donovan Edwards just ripped off a 40-yard touchdown through the heart of the USC defense and Michigan has 178 yards rushing already.

Isaac Wilson throws his first pick of the day on a deep ball as OSU’s Trey Rucker nabs the ball out of the air. But the Cowboys can’t do anything with their possession and have to punt it back to the Utes.
