Saturday shooting at Montgomery County bar claims the life of Union Springs man

A Union Springs man died in an early Saturday morning shooting at a Montgomery County music venue and bar.

The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office said that shots were fired at 3:30 a.m. at Range 231 N., 3250 Wetumpka Highway. The shooting victim, identified as Cardell O’Brian, 27, was transported to Baptist South Hospital before the sheriff’s deputies arrived and was later pronounced dead, MCSO confirmed.

Details of the investigation — including whether or not they have a suspect or where and how the shooting took place at the Range 231 N. property — are not being released, according to the sheriff’s office.

“The investigation is ongoing, and we’re not releasing any of that information at this time,” a MCSO spokesman said.
