Fabrizio Romano Reveals Why Manchester United Outpaced Liverpool and PSG for Summer Target

Manchester United beat out Liverpool, Paris Saint-Germain, and Real Madrid to sign former LOSC Lille defender Leny Yoro this past summer. In a recent interview, the Frenchman hinted at why he chose Old Trafford.

The Premier League club reportedly paid €62 million plus an additional €8 million for the teenager, surpassing the offers made by other teams. In addition, the Red Devils offered Yoro a lucrative salary.

According to MARCA, Yoro preferred Manchester United’s contract, which included a €9.5 million salary, significantly higher than Real Madrid’s €2 million offer.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano revealed that Manchester United also made promises to the player that probably swayed the file in their favor.

“It did seem that Leny Yoro would be signing for Real Madrid at one stage, but, for sure, Man United presented a long term project with him as a regular starter,” Romano wrote in his Daily Briefing column for CaughtOffside.

“Important player status immediately, complete trust for the long term, and, of course, an important salary were also factors in how Man United signed Leny Yoro. These reasons were the key for Yoro to decide to accept Manchester United’s offer despite Real Madrid’s strong interest.”

PSG didn’t submit a formal bid for Yoro, but they did propose an informal offer of up to €35 million, plus an additional €5 million in add-ons. However, the club wasn’t willing to go beyond €45 million, which is significantly less than Manchester United’s €62 million offer.
