The Indian skipper was at the NBA Abu Dhabi Games between the Boston Celtics and the Denver Nuggets along with his wife Ritika Sajdeh. He also met Spain’s FIFA World Cup winning goalkeeper Casillas.

Team Indian skipper Rohit Sharma met legendary Spain goalkeeper and FIFA World Cup winner Iker Casillas at the NBA Abu Dhabi Game on Friday.

The Indian skipper, who led his side to a whitewash of neighbours Bangladesh on home soil was at the NBA Abu Dhabi Games between the Boston Celtics and the Denver Nuggets along with his wife Ritika Sajdeh.

Rohit ended a prolonged ICC title drought for the nation as he helmed the men in blue to the IC T20 World Cup 2024 in the USA and the West Indies. The opener called time on his international T20 career with the game to ow out on a high, but continues to play the other formats of the game for the national side.

Rohit enjoys a huge fanbase that spans across national boundaries thanks to his attacking style of play and the elegance with which he wields the willow.

Casillas led the fabled Spanish football team to the zenith of world football in the year 2010 as he helped La Roja clinch their first FIFA World Cup crown. He was also the custodian for the Spanish Armada which claimed the 2008 Euro and went on to retain it in the year 2012.

The 43-year-old also had a glittery club career with Real Madrid as he managed to bag multiple La Liga, UEFA Champions League, UEFA Super Cup, Supercopa de Espana, Copa Del Rey, in addition to the Intercontinental Cup and the FIFA Club World Cup.

The legendary goalkeeper spent most of his life and career with the Madrid giants before moving to Porto towards the swansong of his iconic career.

The Abu Dhabi Games is an international showcase of the NBA, which complements the NBA Mexico City Game 2024, NBA Canada Series and NBA Paris Games 2025 as the NBA pushes for a wider reach outside its traditional fanbase in the United States of America.
