Golf regional winners, soccer hat tricks: Vote for the SJ-R’s athlete of the week

Here are the nominees for The State Journal-Register’s athlete of the week poll.

The poll closes at noon on Friday. Information about the nominees is below. Carlinville’s Isabella Tiburzi won last week’s poll.

Week 6 football results: Springfield-area Week 6 high school football top performers, results

Other top performers: Brayden Mueller, Chatham Glenwood win boys golf regional title in 3A

Colton Barr, Jacksonville, boys golf

The senior fired 2-under-par 70 to individually win the Class 2A Canton Regional at Wee-Ma-Tuk Hills Country Club. The Crimsons finished in third place as a team.

Paytan Bunner, Lincoln, football

The senior running back rushed for two scores and caught two more touchdowns as Lincoln defeated Decatur MacArthur 43-33 in a Central State Eight Conference game. Bunner finished with 107 rushing yards on 21 carries and caught four passes for 30 yards.

Evan Carrell/Faron Harmony, Springfield High, boys soccer

Carrell scored the hat trick and Harmony provided three assists in a 3-0 victory over Sacred Heart-Griffin.

Bryce Coalson, Staunton, boys golf

The junior shot 1-under-par 71 to win the individual and team titles at the Class 2A Roxana Regional hosted by Belk Park Golf Course. Sophomore teammate Owen Rizzi was third with a 79.

Bryce Cowdrey, Raymond Lincolnwood, boys golf

The sophomore won the individual Class 1A Mount Olive Regional with 1-over-par 73 at Timber Lakes Golf Course.

Alaina Ervin, Pleasant Plains, girls golf

The senior shot 1-over-par 73 to win the individual Class 1A Williamsville Regional title at The Rail Golf Course.

Addison Glenn, Nokomis, volleyball

The junior hitter Glenn led Nokomis with 10 kills in a 25-19, 23-25, 25-10 MSM Conference win over Raymond Lincolnwood.

Izzy Lynch, Pleasant Plains, volleyball

The senior libero furnished eight digs in a 25-22, 25-15 win over Athens and the Cardinals won their seventh straight Sangamon County tournament title. Lynch was named to the all-tournament team.

Brayden Mueller, Chatham Glenwood, boys golf

The junior shot shot 4-under-par 68 for third place individually and the Titans won the Class 3A Collinsville Regional title at Arlington Greens Golf Course.

Noah Rodenburg/Carter Matteson, Lutheran, boys soccer

Rodenburg scored the hat trick and Matteson delivered three assists in a 3-2 win over Pleasant Plains.

Brody Scheffler/Kale Thurman, Springfield High, football

Scheffler threw the go-ahead 40-yard touchdown pass to Thurman with 35 seconds remaining in a 36-29 Central State Eight Conference win over Jacksonville. Scheffler finished 27 of 37 for 428 yards and four TD passes.

Anderson Thielen, Pleasant Plains, boys golf

The senior won the individual Class 1A Jacksonville Routt title with 2-over-par 74 at the Jacksonville Country Club.

Natalie Zak, Sacred Heart-Griffin, girls golf

The junior posted a 77 and the Cyclones captured the team Class 1A Williamsville Regional title at The Rail.
