Vote now for The Ledger’s Midseason Golfer of the Year

Date:

Polk County golfers have been on the course for weeks in 2024. And with their recent outings under their belt, the FHSAA rankings have become that much more valid.

Senior Winter Haven golfer and The Ledger’s two-time Golfer of the Year, Anthony Monteleone, at one point was the No. 1 boys’ golfer in Florida in 2024. But with the FHSAA tracking system constantly being updated, he’s now the No. 2 player in the state, but still ahead of golfers such as Charlie Woods — the son of Tiger Woods. The senior captain has been a medalist (individual overall winner) in three of the four big tournaments played and second in a fourth tourney by two strokes.

“His dedication to the sport is evident whenever he steps on the golf course and practice,” Winter Haven head golf coach Charlie James said.

Other folks in the Florida top 100 for boys and girls golf are Frostproof seventh-grader Jordan Castillo (80), The Ledger’s two-time Girls’ Golfer of the Year, Kathleen’s senior Darby Hancock (67), and Frostproof freshman Hannah Castillo (83).

Please vote below for The Ledger’s Midseason Golfer of the Year. This poll will be closed Friday, Oct. 11 at 8 p.m.
