IOWA CITY — Tipoff times and TV designations have been announced for Iowa men’s basketball’s 2024-25 schedule.
Here is a look at the Hawkeyes‘ opponents, along with the dates, locations and scheduled start times (all in CT).

On paper, the quartet of non-conference opponents that sticks out is Iowa State, Washington State, Utah and Utah State — the latter three of which are on neutral courts but also in states that border Iowa.

Iowa plays two Big Ten opponents before the calendar turns to 2025. The Hawkeyes open conference play against Northwestern on Dec. 3. That’s followed by a road trip to Michigan. The Wolverines are entering their first season under former Florida Atlantic coach Dusty May.
Iowa has a road-heavy finish. Five of the Hawkeyes’ last eight regular season contests, including three of the last four, come away from Iowa City.
The Big Ten Tournament, held in Indianapolis, is also changing this season. It will now feature a 15-team field, meaning three programs will not qualify. Previously, every team made the tournament. The winner of the single-elimination event earns an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.

Here is a breakdown of Iowa’s Big Ten opponents:
- Home only: Indiana, Michigan State, Minnesota, Oregon, Penn State, Purdue, Washington
- Away only: Illinois, Maryland, Michigan, Ohio State, Rutgers, UCLA, USC
- Home and away: Nebraska, Northwestern, Wisconsin
At a national level, optimism isn’t high about this Iowa team. The Hawkeyes were picked to finish 11th in the Big Ten by a preseason media poll. However, there is a strong belief within the program that Iowa is capable of much more.
“That this team is going to win a lot of games. We know a lot of people outside don’t know what this team can do. From an inside standpoint, we all know what we can do. We know what this team can do,” said guard Brock Harding. “We know we’re going to win a lot of games. We’re not too worried about what the media says about us. We know what we do. Coaches know what we do. So we’re just excited for the season to get started and prove some people wrong.”
