CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Up next in the countdown to the Louisville men’s basketball season: ACC Tipoff.

Head coach Pat Kelsey and guards J’Vonne Hadley and Chucky Hepburn will represent the Cardinals this afternoon during the annual media event at the Hilton Charlotte Uptown.

U of L was the doormat of the ACC the past two seasons, finishing a combined 5-35 under former coach Kenny Payne. Kelsey, who was named Payne’s successor in March, is trying to change that with a completely overhauled roster built predominantly though the NCAA transfer portal.

The new-look Cards lead the conference in Division I minutes logged entering the season, but only two players have shared the court during an official game. They did, however, get a chance to develop some on-court chemistry during an exhibition tour of the Bahamas over the summer.

Kelsey’s tenure begins with two exhibitions at the KFC Yum! Center, against Young Harris College (7 p.m. Oct. 21) and Spalding (7 p.m., Oct. 28), before Louisville welcomes Morehead State to town for the season opener at 7 p.m. Nov. 4.

Courier Journal reporter Brooks Holton and columnist C.L. Brown are in Charlotte keeping up with the Cards and everyone else making the rounds at ACC Tipoff. Follow along with their live coverage below:
