Spalletti ‘surprised’ by Inzaghi’s conversations with Inter ultra: ‘I can hang up the phone’

Luciano Spalletti admitted he was ‘surprised’ to know that Inter manager Simone Inzaghi had a phone conversation with an arrested Nerazzurri supporter, as proved by a wiretap emerged from an investigation into the criminal business carried out by the ultras of the two Milan teams.

Milan and Anti-Mafia prosecutors interviewed Inzaghi on Wednesday over his telephone conversation with Inter ultra Marco Ferdico, who called him to obtain more tickets for the Curva Nord fans for the 2023 Champions League final in Istanbul.

Ferdico was arrested alongside 18 other Milan and Inter ultras in an anti-mafia operation in late September and Spalletti reflected on these recent facts, explaining he has ‘never lived’ similar situations and suggesting he can ‘hang up the phone’ when he gets contacted by people he’s not willing to speak with.

Spalletti: ‘I never lived situations like Simone Inzaghi’s’

“I can say I never lived situations like Simone Inzaghi’s, neither in Milan nor in other moments of my career,” Italy’s coach told Rai Sport in an interview, as quoted by Fcinternews.

“It never happened that someone called me for these matters, it’s a piece of news that surprised me, because you don’t know how was the previous relationship.

“If someone calls you, you don’t know him, you never had anything to do with him, I think it’s difficult to exchange words.

“I answer to everyone, even to the numbers I don’t know, but I can also hang up then.”

Inzaghi was said to have answered all the questions he was posed; prosecutors are expected to also hear Inter vice-president Javier Zanetti, Hakan Calhanoglu and ex-Nerazzurri defender Milan Skriniar, as well as Milan captain Davide Calabria.
