Michigan State basketball finally ends drought, lands top-60 SF

Date:

The drought for Michigan State basketball and Tom Izzo is finally over.

The Hall of Fame head coach has secured a commitment from one of the best small forwards in the country as four-star Jordan Scott committed to the Spartans over Virginia Tech and Maryland.

For weeks, it felt like the Spartans weren’t going to get any good news from the 2025 class on the recruiting front. Jalen Haralson committed to Notre Dame, Trent Sisley committed to Indiana, Darius Adams chose UConn, and Trey McKenney eliminated the Spartans from contention when he released his top three schools.

On top of that, there were rumors circulating that five-star target Dwayne Aristode was trending away from Michigan State after the Spartans were in a good spot for months.

It felt like nothing was going right for Izzo and the Spartans.

That all changed on Thursday night with the commitment of Scott.

The four-star small forward from Virginia chose the Spartans over two solid contenders, including a Maryland program which likely had him at the top of their board. The Spartans are also targeting Cam Ward, another top target for the Terrapins in their own backyard.

Scott is a great addition as the No. 52 overall recruit in the class and a guy who can come in and play the wing and score from anywhere on the floor. He also has a solid 6-foot-7, 185-pound frame that he needs to grow into but that size is just what Izzo wants from his small forwards.

This is a really good program fit and it makes sense that he picked Michigan State after taking in the Izzone Campout and Midnight Madness last weekend.

Michigan State got an OKG.
