The Columbus Academy boys golf team will look to rally in the final round of the Division II state tournament Monday at Firestone Country Club in Akron.
Competing in their eighth consecutive state tournament, the Vikings are in sixth place (328) after the opening round Sunday. Two-time defending champion Kettering Alter (308) leads the 12-team field.
Senior Alex Stein led Academy on Sunday with a 76, tying him for eighth individually. The top five golfers earn first-team all-state honors, while sixth through 10th place are second-team all-state.
Senior Ethan Baker (79, tied for 17th), junior Krish Bakhru (86, tied for 45th), senior Gavin Munster (87, tied for 51st) and junior Jaxon Crowl (89, tied for 56th) also competed for Academy.
The Vikings have won 12 state titles, with their last coming in 2021.
Fairbanks senior Cole Eger also is tied for 17th (79).
Westfall is 12th (356) in the team standings. Senior Jacob Hicks led the Mustangs with an 83, tying him for 31st.
