McKennie injury relief for Juventus

Weston McKennie will miss Saturday’s Serie A match against Lazio, but the American midfielder’s injury is not as severe as initially thought, so he may be back for the following Champions League game against VfB Stuttgart.

McKennie had been an unused substitute for the USMNT against Panama this past weekend and underwent medical tests with his compatriot Timothy Weah in Turin this morning.

Reputable Italian sources, including Sky Sport Italia and Gazzetta, claim McKennie will miss Saturday’s meeting with Lazio in Serie A, the first game after the October break, but his injury is not as serious as initially feared.

The reports, in fact, claim that McKennie was diagnosed with muscle fatigue rather than muscle strain. This will make his recovery considerably quicker, and he could be available in the next home Champions League match against VfB Stuttgart on October 22.

Weah has practically recovered from an ankle injury and is expected to start on the bench against Lazio. Teun Koopmeiners, on the other hand, is still dealing with a rib injury and is expected to miss both games against Lazio and Stuttgart.
