Northeastern Hire Matt Harlow As Assistant Coach

Date:

The Northeastern Huskies have hired Matt Harlow as an assistant coach, the team announced Tuesday.

A product of Bridgewater, Mass., Harlow joins the team after spending the past three seasons as the Hartford Wolf Pack’s director of hockey operations.

Before getting into coaching and hockey ops, Harlow enjoyed a brief pro career where he spent time playing in the ECHL with the Elmira Jackals, Manchester Monarchs and the Alaska Aces.

Retiring from the game after the 2015-16 season, Harlow jumped right into coaching, joining Stonehill College (NCAA-III) as an assistant coach for the 2016-17 season.

Following one season in that role, Harlow joined the New York Islanders as a scout. Another role that only lasted one season, Harlow worked for Tabor Academy (USHS) before joining Northeastern as their director of hockey operations in 2019. Since then, he has worked for the Huskies and the Wolf Pack in the same role.

Harlow will be making the transition to coaching again for the first time since 2020. Still just 32, Harlow has worked in a lot of roles since retiring, allowing him to gain valuable expertise which should in turn help make him a solid addition on Jerry Keefe’s staff.
