Acerbi subbed off injured for Inter after Calhanoglu

Just a few minutes after Hakan Calhanoglu’s injury, Inter coach Simone Inzaghi was forced to replace Francesco Acerbi due to another fitness problem.

Two key Inter players suffered injuries in the opening minutes of Sunday’s Serie A game against Roma at the Stadio Olimpico.

Calhanoglu was subbed off at minute 12 with a suspected muscle injury, and only 15 minutes later, he was followed by Italy international Acerbi.

DAZN reports that the Italian defender suffered an injury to the flexor of his left thigh. Therefore, Dutch defender Stefan de Vrij was introduced to replace him.

Acerbi and Calhanoglu’s injuries mean Inzaghi used two slots for substitutions in less than 30 minutes.

Acerbi and Calhanoglu will be assessed ahead of Inter’s next competitive match in the Champions League.

The Nerazzurri will visit Swiss side Young Boys on Wednesday, October 23.
