It had been reported that the Maple Leafs and McCabe were interested in getting an extension finalized. Now, they have done just that, and the former Sabre will be sticking with the Original Six club.

It is understandable that the Maple Leafs have signed McCabe to this long-term extension. His steady defensive play and immense physicality have made him become an important part of their blueline. Now, that will remain the case for five more years.
