El Dorado County supervisor John Hidahl passes away

(FOX40.COM) — The El Dorado County Board of Supervisors annoucned that District 1 Supervisor John Hidahl died “suddenly” at home Saturday.

According to his biography on the county website, Hidahl had lived in the county for over 40 years where he raised five children with his wife of more than 50 years, Eileen.

Hidahl graduated from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo with a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and spent much of his career working in the aerospace industry for Aerojet and Northrop Grumman.

Outside of his professional career, the Ceres native served on various El Dorado County boards and committees for decades.

Hidahl also helped manage the almond and walnut farm Hidahl Ranch which is run by his brother.

Hidahl is one of four candidates on the ballot to be El Dorado Hills County Water Director.
