Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers was battered during New York’s frustrating Week 5 loss to the Vikings in London, and he did not escape the game unscathed.
Rodgers, who briefly left in the fourth quarter after going down in a pile, is dealing with a low ankle sprain.
The quarterback mentioned the injury after Sunday’s loss, and head coach Robert Saleh confirmed the diagnosis on Monday.
“All the preliminary stuff says he’ll be fine,” Saleh noted.
The ankle injury is the latest thing plaguing Rodgers.
Ahead of Week 5, Rodgers was getting treatment on his knees, and was listed on the injury report because of it.
Rodgers was sacked three times on Sunday, losing 26 yards in the process. And he struggled when he had enough time to get a throw off, completing 29 of 54 passes for 244 yards with two touchdowns and three interceptions.
So far this season, Rodgers’ 49.1 QBR ranks 21st in the NFL.
If Rodgers has to miss time at any point — whether it’s a brief in-game absence or something more — the Jets are set up relatively well with Tyrod Taylor as the backup.
Taylor played a bit in the Jets’ lopsided Week 1 loss to the 49ers in San Francisco, completing six of eight passes for 36 yards and one touchdown.
