The 37-year-old motorcyclist, later identified as Joshuia Harness, was traveling south and collided with the Ford Edge, which caused him to sustain life-threatening injuries.

He was transported to Hendrick Medical Center in critical condition and was later care-flighted to John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth where he succumbed to his injuries on Monday morning, the media release said.

Next of kin notifications have been made.

Abilene Police Department’s Traffic Division is conducting further investigations into the collision, and results are pending. Intoxication doesn’t appear to be a factor in the wreck.

This is the third motorcyclist killed this year in Abilene, and the twelfth fatal motor vehicle collision.

Police urge motorcyclists to wear a helmet and bright reflective and protective clothing, utilize high-beam head lamps in daytime hours and to slow down.
