Anfield to host RECORD number of concerts with more to follow Dua Lipa

As Liverpool opened up its doors to concert-goers this summer for five Taylor Swift and Pink shows, Anfield is set to be busier than ever this season, with more shows scheduled for next summer.

But considering this season’s extended Champions League format, and with Liverpool hoping to go far in all four competitions, is it really a great idea to cover the pitch during the club’s offseason?

Since 2018, the club has been open to hosting several non-football events each year, with music artists keen on utilising the iconic venue. However, things particularly took off across the summer when pop icon Taylor Swift came to town for three nights of her illustrious Eras Tour.

Swift attracted a number of superstars to her shows across the world, with former Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp returning to Anfield for one of her performances this summer.

Subsequently, legendary singer Pink followed suit and Anfield maxed out the number of shows it could host according to planning permission laid out by Liverpool City Council.

But, according to a new report from The Athletic, Anfield is set to be able to host six shows next year with promoters for a wide range of different musical acts contacting the club to book the venue.

Following the improvements made to the Anfield Road stand, which were completed throughout last season, the stadium now has a capacity of over 61,000 – putting it in the top five biggest stadiums in England, and a different choice for artists planning to host shows in the north.

How busy could Anfield get?

In the Champions League and Premier League alone, the club could plausibly play 27 home games this season. Alongside the FA Cup and the Carabao Cup – for which Liverpool already have a home fixture confirmed against West Ham later this month – Anfield is set to be incredibly busy, even before charity matches, Women’s team games and concerts are factored into the equation.

Dua Lipa confirmed earlier this week that she will be playing at least one show at Anfield this summer, where fans will be able to belt out the club’s borrowed anthem of hers, One Kiss.

However, with the British popstar only set for three shows in the UK, it is not yet confirmed if any extra dates will be made available for the in-demand tickets.

The remaining five shows that the club has the capacity for are yet to be booked, but as last summer showed, the venue is likely to be filled to the brim with excited music fans, regardless of who ends up playing.
