FAYETTEVILLE — Arkansas men’s basketball announced the addition of Tyler Ulis to first-year coach John Calipari’s staff on Friday. Ulis will serve as basketball assistant.
Ulis worked as a graduated assistant for Calipari the past two seasons at Kentucky and is now following him to the Razorbacks. He was an All-American point guard for the Wildcats and was selected by the Phoenix Suns in the second round of the 2016 NBA Draft.
He joined Calipari’s staff as a graduate assistant after his professional career was cut short due to a car accident.
Ulis also coached the Kentucky alumni team “La Familia” in this summer’s edition of The Basketball Tournament.
Ulis was with Calipari for the Arkansas Basketball Coaches Association Clinic on Monday in Hot Springs, where he was part of Calipari’s demonstrations.
“I’m excited about [Ulis],” Calipari said in Hot Springs. “He’s another guy that’s just got done playing. Knows, has a great relationship with the other people. I’m excited about it.”
Ulis joins associate head coaches Kenny Payne and Chin Coleman and assistant coaches Chuck Martin and Brad Calipari as members of Calipari’s staff.
