Earlier today, Barcelona found out their opponents for the 2024-25 season of the UEFA Champions League.
The new format of the competition sees the Blaugrana play eight games before the knockouts, half of which will be at home. Further, two opponents have been picked from each pot, ensuring fair distribution of competition.
As the draw had it, the Azulgranas are drawn up against Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund, Atalanta, Benfica, Young Boys, Crvena Zvezda, Brest and AS Monaco.
Speaking to the media after the official draw, Barcelona football co-ordinator Bojan Krkic who was at the venue gave his two cents on the team’s opponents and how difficult he saw the path to the knockouts to be.
“[They are] powerful, just like all the teams that are in the Champions League, they are on their own merits for having had a great season.”
He then sent an open warning to all the teams drawn up against Barcelona, saying: “Our opponents will not be happy to face us.”
The UEFA Champions League this season sees a revamped structure with the traditional group stages being phased out for a league phase. Speaking on the changes and what it meant for the team, he said:
“We always aim for the maximum, especially accepting that we are a very good and growing team.”
Bojan also spoke on Barcelona’s strong start to the new campaign that has seen them win three out of three games so far.
“The team has started the season at a high level. As a club, we are in a great moment, people are excited and we want to give them back that illusion in Europe.”
Finally, the club official was quizzed on the possibility of Barcelona making a new signing in the closing days of the transfer market, to which he said,
“Nothing to say.”
