In recent months, Paris Saint-Germain have shown strong interest in Bayern Munich midfielder Joshua Kimmich. Nonetheless, a report from Germany reveals that a sale nearly occurred this past summer.
The Parisians aren’t the only club keen on the veteran midfielder as a recent report revealed that Barcelona is also targeting Kimmich and Bayer Leverkusen’s Jonathan Tah as part of its plans to bolster its midfield and defense in 2025.
Kimmich’s situation at Bayern Munich has taken an unexpected turn since Vincent Kompany took over as head coach. The German midfielder, who can also play right-back, looked set to leave the club when his contract expired next summer. However, recent developments have completely changed the outlook.
Fichajes reported this month that Bayern Munich have moved quickly to try to keep one of its key players, offering Kimmich a new deal with a significant pay raise, something he was seeking.
Nonetheless, Bayern Munich nearly sold the 29-year-old to PSG as Sky Sports Germany’s Florian Plettenberg reports that Kimmich was on the market for a potential summer transfer, and there were talks with PSG.

However, things have taken a turn, and now Bayern is keen to secure a long-term contract with him. The club is confident about their chances and sees him, alongside Jamal Musiala, as a key figure for the future.
