Behind another strong showing from senior Alena Li, the Okemos girls golf team finished as the champion at the CAAC Open on Monday at Michigan State’s Forest Akers East.
Li was the medalist by seven strokes, firing a 64 to lead a strong showing for Okemos. She was one of three golfers to finish in the top 10 overall for the Wolves, who had a team score of 308. Freshman Anika Srivastava shot a 72 and finished third and sophomore Emma O’Shea carded a round of 79 for Okemos.
Mason was the team runner-up with a score of 335, while Grand Ledge (340) was third followed by Lansing Catholic (345) and Williamston (347).
Grand Ledge’s Isabel Kelly was the runner-up and shot. Williamston’s Nicole Schafer and Paige Radebach rounded out the top five. Schafer shot a 75 and Radebach fired a 77.
Kortney Osborn and Gabby Hanover each led Mason in its runner-up finish by placing in the top 10. Osborn had a round of 78 to take sixth and Hanover shot an 80 and was eighth.
Charlotte’s Peyton Howarth and Lansing Catholic’s Brynn Anderson tied for ninth with rounds of 81.
