Blue Devil boys basketball carrying momentum from dominant start

Date:

QUINCY (WGEM) – Quincy High School boys are currently 9-0 after taking down Quincy Notre Dame on the hardwood over the weekend.

After last week’s 30-point win, the Blue Devils have yet to let any opponent get within single digits in each final score this season. Saturday night, QHS was led by Bradley Longcor III and Keshaun Thomas in scoring. Thomas was recognized before the game for breaking the school’s all time rebound record, totaling 729. The senior was surprised with a video featuring friends, family, and former blue devils congratulating him on the feat.

“It means a lot to me,” said Thomas. “I almost dropped a tear seeing my mom up there, seeing a bunch of family up there, a bunch of legends up there. I just feel great to be accomplishing things to be up there with them.”

Thomas wasn’t the only standout in the crosstown win, with Longcor III leading the team in scoring with 25 points. The Santa Clara commit is looking to continue to build momentum for himself and his team as they continue the season.

“I just got to keep it going,” said Longor III. “Keep being a leader on and off the court. Just keep everybody on there toes and keep everybody just ready to play and stuff like that. Always be prepared.”

The Blue Devils head to the Collinsville Prairie Farms Holiday Classic later this week where they’ll look to improve upon last year’s runner up finish. They start things off against against McCluer North, Friday at 2:30.
