It was a day of basketball in our area this morning as members of the Bucknell men’s team made the trip to the Wilkes Barre Scranton area to host two clinics to help promote their game on November 30th against Siena at the Mohegan Sun Arena. At the Riverfront sports complex the Bison helped players with ball handling, shooting and defense. It’s a chance for the Bucknell coaches and player to meet what they hope will be future Bison fans.
John Griffin III, Bucknell head coach says , “We want to make sure that as, as a program, we are bringing great energy.
The community. We want to be mentors for the youth in our area as well as in our market. This is a media market for Bucknell and Lewisburg community, and we want to make sure that we’re hitting all parts of of our hope for, area of fans. And this is a great starting point for us where we can get in the gym and bring some smiles to the young basketball players, girls and boys in this area.
And hopefully they’ll be fans of Bucknell basketball going forward.
Bob Ide asks, What are you doing with the kids today?
Ruot Bijiek, Bucknell Junior responds, “ Pretty much. We’re just really. We’re just trying to have fun, teaching them some skills and honestly, just talking to them, getting to know them.
So like they will become fans.”
Ide asks, so why do you enjoy it?
Bikiek answers, “This is fun. So, I mean, I love the game of basketball. I remember when I was a kid and I was in their shoes. Like, if a college player was talking to me in any type of way, I. I would enjoy it and like it “
