Champions Trophy: PoK cities removed from ICC’s global Trophy Tour | Cricket News – Times of India

Date:

NEW DELHI: The International Cricket Council (ICC) on Saturday announced the global trophy tour of the 2025 Champions Trophy which did not feature the Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK) cities as mentioned by host nation Pakistan earlier.
The Indian cricket board (BCCI) on Friday had raised strong objection to Pakistan Cricket Board’s move where they had said that the trophy tour will take place in Skardu, Hunza and Muzaffarabad — in PoK.
The global governing body had then put on hold the tour and on Saturday released a new roster where the PoK cities were not included for the tour.
It was reported that BCCI secretary Jay Shah on Friday spoke to the ICC top brass and condemned the PCB for the PoK move.
During the tour, the prestigious trophy will be travelling to eight participating countries for the fans.
According to ICC, the tour will kick off from Islamabad in Pakistan from November 16 and the trophy will return to the country on January 27.
Key dates of the Trophy Tour:
16 November – Islamabad, Pakistan
17 November – Taxila and Khanpur, Pakistan
18 November – Abbottabad, Pakistan
19 November- Murree, Pakistan
20 November- Nathia Gali, Pakistan
22 – 25 November – Karachi, Pakistan
26 – 28 November – Afghanistan
10 – 13 December – Bangladesh
15 – 22 December – South Africa
25 December – 5 January – Australia
6 – 11 January – New Zealand
12 – 14 January – England
15 – 26 January – India
27 January – event start – Pakistan
Earlier, the PCB, without prior knowledge of all stakeholders, announced on its official social media handle about taking the Trophy to the disputed territory.
The Champions Trophy was last held in 2017 in England and was won by Pakistan.
The formal schedule of the eight-team tournament for the 2025 edition is in limbo after the BCCI’s decision not to travel to Pakistan due to security concerns.
The PCB has so far not agreed to host it under a hybrid model.
