Over at the Herald-Sun, via the News & Observer, Luke DeCock has a piece up on Cooper Flagg, comparing his hype to that of Zion Williamson’s.
Zion was an amazing ride: a bundle of talent, charisma and a game we’d never seen before and may never see again.
Flagg is not that kind of a player. People have been trying to find ways to explain him but no one has really caught it well. DeCock may have done it: he says to think of him as Paolo Banchero, only better.
We love Banchero’s game but we have never thought he was hugely athletic. He’s just a damn good basketball player and skill, at some point, crosses talent in the graph.
Flagg is probably a better athlete. If he has that level of smarts – and it appears he does, plus an intense competitive desire – fans are going to see something special.
