City of East Liverpool getting ready for holiday event

Date:

EAST LIVERPOOL, Ohio (WKBN) – It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas in East Liverpool, and the city has been busy planning its annual light-up night celebration.

This year, the city is showing off a new Christmas tree on The Diamond in the heart of downtown.

The 22-foot tree was purchased with money from donations in a campaign spearheaded by lifelong resident Gini Jackson.

The day-long celebration will feature live nativity and a parade at 6 p.m. That’s when they will light the new tree for the first time.

“Every year, we’d get critiqued with the tree that we would get. All the people coming off the sidelines would talk about the tree. Some of them were beautiful. Some of them were not. This here solves that for sure,” said Mayor Bobby Smith.

Light Up Night in East Liverpool is Saturday, December 7.
