COLDWATER – The Coldwater Cardinal tennis team defeated Interstate 8 foe Pennfield Wednesday night by the score of 6-2.
Coldwater used their dominance in the doubles flights as the Cardinals swept all four flights on their way to victory.
At No. 1 doubles, it was the team of Tucker Wischmeyer and Cayden Wood winning by scores of 6-4 and 6-1, while at No. 2 doubles it was Logan Kirk and Gabe McCowan winning by 6-0 and 6-4.
Adding to the doubles sweep was the No. 3 doubles team of Caden Birts and Kush Patel who won by scores of 6-1 and 6-1 followed by the No. 4 doubles team of Anthony Stevens and Clayten Bustos who won by scores of 6-0 and 6-0.
Adding to the victory with wins in their singles flights were No. 1 singles player Claudel Wischmeyer who won by scores of 7-5 and 6-1 while No. 4 singles player Evan Poradzisz won in straight sets by scores of 6-0 and 6-4.
Also competing for the Cardinals were Logun Fisher at No. 2 singles and Joe Searls at No. 3 singles.

With the win Coldwater improves to 3-1 in the race for the Interstate 8 conference title, while pushing their overall record to 4-4.
The Cardinal tennis team is back in action on Thursday when they face Sturgis.
