Week 8 was a big one for the SEC.
In the first of the two marquee matchups of the night, No. 11 Tennessee overcame a rough start to knock off No. 7 Alabama, 24-17, in a dramatic finish. Then, later, No. 5 Georgia welcomed No. 1 Texas to the SEC in proper fashion, giving the Longhorns their first loss this season in a 30-15 battle.
In other action, quarterback Brady Cook suffered an early injury before leading No. 19 Missouri back for a win against Auburn in a gritty performance. Also dinged up on Saturday: Travis Hunter. Colorado’s two-way star left at halftime after aggravating a shoulder injury, but the Buffaloes didn’t need him in a blowout win over Arizona.
No. 9 Iowa State stayed undefeated on the year with a late comeback win over a lively UCF team. The Cyclones trailed by two touchdowns in the second half of a fluky game before rallying and scoring the game-winning TD in the final minute.
In the Big Ten, defending national champion Michigan suffered its third loss of the season, falling to No. 22 Illinois, and USC dropped its third straight conference game in a stunner at Maryland.
