SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A stabbing left one person in the hospital and college students concerned for their safety.
It happened Saturday night outside a popular pizza place and just a street next to off-campus student housing in Scranton.
The stabbing happened late Saturday night at the intersection of Mulberry Street and Kellum Court.
The location is just two blocks from the University of Scranton and a few blocks from Lackawanna College.
Students who witnessed the attack say walking those streets is getting scarier and scarier.
University of Scranton students sat outside CK’s Pizza Sunday night one night after somebody was stabbed near the business.

“We see people screaming, running in different directions. and within probably two or three minutes we see a bunch of cop cars,” said University of Scranton Student Bridgette Ansbro.
Ansbro and her roommates live off-campus on Webster Avenue, right across the street from where the stabbing took place.
Before they did, they thought things were getting better in their neighborhood.
“We kind of thought we were on the edge of it and we were kind of removed from it and it turns out that we are not as far away from it as we thought we were,” said Jacob Haley, a University of Scranton Student.
Along with CK’s Pizza, there are other popular pizza shops on Mulberry Street that college students visit daily, like Good Fellas Pizza and Scranton Pizzeria.
“The kids are scared personally I’m not but I’m scared for them because they have to walk these streets everyday,” Scranton Pizzeria Manager Vincent Grasso said.
That includes students from Lackawanna College, too, including one who happened to be grabbing a slice Saturday night at the time of the stabbing.
“My friends came outside the pizza shop and there was kind of like a big crowd around people yelling. Crime really close to the school is really scary because we do live there,” said Lackawanna College Student Connor Goehring.
Not even back to school a month and these students are already taking extra safety precautions.

“We decided to do cameras in case there was ever a problem,” Haley added.
“We are constantly keeping our doors locked all the time, like constantly double checking them,” said University of Scranton student Arianna Taylor.
Senior Alexis Havanki says students never received an alert of any kind from the university regarding saturday night’s stabbing.
“The University didn’t inform us about anything that happened last night. If something happened a block over from my house the students of the University should know,” Havanki explained.
The stabbing victim was transported to the hospital and there is no update on their condition.
There’s also no word on a suspect.
The University of Scranton decided not to comment on the stabbing, citing the fact that it did not take place on the university’s campus or involve its students.
