Players to watch at the Women’s T20 World Cup
Australia boast many a superstar within their squad, including each Player of the Series from the past three T20 World Cup editions: Alyssa Healey, Ash Gardner, and Beth Mooney.
Healey, 34, is Australia’s captain and has featured in all six of their T20 World Cup triumphs, while Gardner is an all-rounder threat across all formats of cricket.
Mooney meanwhile is currently the world’s top-ranked female batter, and has won the coveted Wisden Leading Woman Cricketer in the World award twice, in 2020 and 2022.
Elsewhere, West Indies’ Hayley Matthews is the world’s top all-rounder and third in the batting rankings, while England’s strength comes from their bowling attack.
Sophie Ecclestone is the world’s No 1 bowler, and Sarah Glenn fourth, while Nat Sciver-Brunt was Wisden’s leading cricketer for 2023, praised for her batting power, with Wisden adding “perhaps her real gift is an ability to elevate team-mates by her mere presence”.
